Strong, fast, male and a bit crazy ? Want the chance to become an olympian ?

Are you strong, fast and a bit crazy ? Do you want the chance to become an olympian ? If so, then the sport of bobsleigh is after you ?

Labelled 'formula one on ice', the sport of bobsleigh requires athletes to explode from the starting block and push the sled up to 50m along an ice track before deftly leaping into the sled and tucking and then sliding at up to 140km/hr down a 1.6km icy track.

After having equalled Australia's best ever result of 22nd in the men's 2-man bobsleigh at the recent Winter Olympics in Torino, the team is now recruiting a couple of further athletes with a view to Vancouver 2010. No experience is necessary as successful athletes will be put through intensive testing, training and development.

So if you're up for adrenaline, speed and fun as well as a lot of hard work along the way, and you think you've got what it takes (considering the below), then come along to our testing and recruitment day. Perhaps this is your opportunity to take you all the way to qualifying for the Winter Olympics this time next year !

The physical characteristics we look for in a crewman are high explosive output and power, very fast leg speed as well as plenty of mass. The ideal model would be an athlete who meets many of the following:

90Kg + body mass
30m sprint in under 3.90 seconds
power cleans 120Kg +
squats 180Kg +
bench press 120Kg +
standing long jump 2.80m +
standing vertical jump 70cm +
Testing will be held on Saturday March 7th at 4pm. Details are as follows:

Sydney Academy of Sport
Wakehurst Parkway
Narrabeen 2101

4pm - meet outside the athletic track.
